Delivery method note: Vitality Texas offers NAD+ as a subcutaneous injectable peptide protocol. For NAD+ IV infusion therapy — the same molecule administered directly into the bloodstream at our clinic — see our IV therapy program.
Why NAD+ Levels Matter — and What Injectable NAD+ Does
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is present in every cell in your body. It is essential for the mitochondrial processes that produce ATP — the energy currency of the cell — and for activating PARP enzymes, which are critical for DNA repair. NAD+ also regulates sirtuins, a class of proteins studied in the context of cellular stress response and longevity.
Research documents that NAD+ levels decline significantly with age — typically by 40–60% between the ages of 40 and 60. This decline is associated with reduced cellular energy production, impaired DNA repair capacity, and changes in metabolic function. Oral NAD+ precursors (NMN, NR) are available, but they must be converted by the body before use, and absorption is less efficient than injectable or IV delivery.
Injectable subcutaneous NAD+ bypasses first-pass metabolism, delivering the coenzyme systemically more efficiently than oral supplements. Physicians prescribe injectable NAD+ protocols to support cellular energy, metabolic health, and cognitive function in adults experiencing age-related decline or seeking longevity optimization.
What NAD+ Injectable Therapy Supports
Benefits are supported by emerging research and physician-reported outcomes. Language reflects supported, not guaranteed, outcomes.
Cellular Energy
- Supports mitochondrial ATP production
- Patients report improved sustained energy levels
- Addresses age-related NAD+ decline at the cellular level
Cognitive Support
- NAD+ involved in neuronal function and signaling
- Emerging research in cognitive aging and brain health
- Patients report improved mental clarity
Metabolic Health
- Supports insulin sensitivity signaling pathways
- Studied alongside weight management and metabolic protocols
- Commonly paired with GLP-1 therapy for metabolic optimization
DNA Repair & Longevity
- PARP enzymes (critical for DNA repair) require NAD+
- Growing longevity research interest in NAD+ restoration
- Supports sirtuins — proteins involved in cellular stress response
Good Candidates for Injectable NAD+ Therapy
Adults experiencing age-related energy decline — persistent fatigue, reduced cognitive sharpness, or slower recovery — are common candidates for injectable NAD+ therapy. Patients seeking metabolic optimization alongside TRT or GLP-1 medications often include NAD+ as part of a comprehensive longevity protocol.
Injectable NAD+ is a component of our full peptide therapy program. For patients who prefer clinic-administered delivery, we also offer NAD+ IV infusion therapy — the same molecule delivered intravenously for a different pharmacokinetic profile. Dr. Jaqua discusses which delivery method is appropriate for your goals.
Every NAD+ protocol at Vitality begins with a physician evaluation and appropriate labs. Dr. Jaqua reviews your metabolic panel and medical history before prescribing any protocol.
A Note on Regulatory Status
NAD+ is available via licensed compounding pharmacy with a physician's prescription. It has not received drug approval from the FDA. Importantly, NAD+ was not subject to the peptide compounding restrictions that affected peptides such as BPC-157 and TB-500. NAD+ was never on the Category 2 restricted list and does not require reclassification — it has remained available through licensed 503A compounding pharmacies.
At Vitality, injectable NAD+ is sourced from licensed compounding pharmacies and prescribed by Dr. Jaqua following a comprehensive evaluation. Off-label use is discussed transparently at your consultation.
